Concept.

Rather than going through touristy pictures of Italy on Google, I wanted to find something unique and asked Anton (Arthint co-founder) to take his camera when he goes for a walk around his neighbourhood to capture architectural details, typographic signs.. something that could catch his eye.

Later I was browsing through his pictures when my attention was drawn to one in particular. It captured a facade of a medieval palazzo building: its ornamental cornice was destroyed by time and only a small remaining fragment reminded about its past wealth (a great and ancient past).

I thought about time, history, about its connection and influence on the present. Arthint is a platform not only about modern art trends but also about the history of art. I was interested to find a way to convey in graphics this correlation between new and old, classical and modern, withering and thriving. I came up with a logo in which the classic contrast Antiqua disappears, leaving a trace, and forms a counter (white space) of a modern geometric grotesk letter ‘a’.
